Enjoy England Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service   Boughton House was recently assessed by the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service (VAQAS): VAQAS, launched nationally in 2001, is a consumer focused quality assessment service for all types of visitor attractions. It helps to identify strengths of an attraction and highlights development areas based on industry examples. A wide range of attractions of all sizes, both large and small, throughout England have benefited from participation in the service. The assessment is an annual visit at any time when the attraction is open to the public. The visit, by an experienced quality assurance assessor, is unannounced, although one key contact at the attraction will be advised beforehand.  Some extracts from the VAQAS report: ......“he provided a proactive and fine welcome, dealt with ticket sales quickly and efficiently and offered clear directions.....any questions asked received full and informative answers.  This created a very good first impression of Boughton. Standards of cleanliness were very good throughout the grounds and House itself with no visible litter and a generally very neat and tidy appearance......... The formal garden areas were extremely well maintained and had a very good appearance.  The variety of features and design styles enhanced this part of the experience. The room steward provided a benchmark style of welcome and visitor care............ All food purchased was of a very high standard in terms of freshness, flavours and texture.  Staff were all clean and tidy in appearance and offered a very good welcome to visitors....... ....a good balance of images, text and colour of the tool bar all enlivened the website.  It also provided access to a wide range of information on linked topics. The member of staff in the gift shop greeted visitors entering the shop, asking if they had enjoyed their visit – adding to the overall memory of this visitor experience.” Boughton House has demonstrated a very good visitor experience and in many ways it is unfortunate that House opening hours are not more extensive in the season so visitors could enjoy its very range content as well as the content of the park.  Some areas of fine tuning in terms of interpretation have been highlighted but overall Boughton House fully meets the criteria of the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Service -  at a very good standard.
