Portrait of Don Carlos Coloma, Marquùs d'Espina (1573-1637). by Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641). Spanish soldier and diplomat, three-quarter length, facing the spectator, in armour with white lace collar, broad sash, resting his right hand on a ledge, and holding a baton in his left - with inscription - on panel 9.0 in. x 6.5 in. Provenance: Sir Peter lely; sale, 18th April 1682 "Item. Thirty -Seven Pictures done in Grisaille done by Vandike after the life of the most eminent men in his time, from which the plates were graven" (ii125 to Ralph, 1st Duke of Montagu) Engraved: by P.
