Spanish General who served in the Low Countries in 1631-2, half length, slightly turned to the left facing the spectator, in armour with white collar, holding a baton in his right hand, his helmet resting on a ledge in front - on panel 9.0 in. x 6.0 in.

Provenance: Sir Peter lely; sale, 18th April 1682 "Item. Thirty -Seven Pictures done in Grisaille done by Vandike after the life of the most eminent men in his time, from which the plates were graven" (ii125 to Ralph, 1st Duke of Montagu).
