This site has been designed to enable you to find out about, and view, Boughton House and its contents with ease. We hope you enjoy this web site, and that you will return here again. If you have any problems with this site please email the Webmaster.

Contents Icon The site is divided up into a number of sub sections, some of which have their own sub menus. To return to the home page and main navigational buttons, click on the 'Contents' icon at the top of the pages.

Following is an outline of each of the main sub-sections.

Welcome and Introduction - introduces you to the site and what it has to offer, it includes a short piece written by the Duke of Buccleuch about his feelings for the house. From this page you can access 'Where Boughton Stands', which explains how the estate fits in with the local community, and national interest.

Tour of House and Gardens - this section takes you through the house, room by room. Details of many of the contents within each room is given and most of the items mentioned can be seen by clicking on the links. The large pictures of each room also provide links to many of the items within the image (the cursor will change to a 'hand' when over active parts of the image).

A structured tour can be followed by using the 'Next Room' link at the bottom of each page, or you can chose to view any of the rooms by using the Tour Index (upper right window). Linked images will appear in this main window, while information about each item is given in the 'Item Information Window' (lower right).

QTVR - This is a virtual reality feature and you will need a particular plugin for your browser. If you do not have the QTVR plugin use the link provided to take you to the Quick Time site, get the plugin, then come back.

Once you have the plugin you can view the QTVR's of Boughton House. Use the mouse button to click and drag, and you will be able to look all around, as if you were standing in the area yourself!

Family History - provides an account of the Montagu family and their association with Boughton House. Here you will also find a link to the Family Tree.

Gallery - this is where you can access information and images about many of the contents of the house, such as paintings, ornaments or furniture.

Living Landscape Trust - a Registered Charity (No 292971), created by the Duke of Buccleuch to provide an opportunity for learning about the countryside and the necessary work that goes on there.

Visiting Information - within this section you can obtain information on: facilities and attractions, opening times, how to get to Boughton House, maps of the area, where to stay, and other places of interest. Many of the links within this section are external and will take you to other sites on the internet

Estate Guide- This section examines the Boughton Estate, its heritage, farming, forestry, game keeping and wildlife. Here you can find out about the Boughton Estate Open Days for schools, and look at a map of the Estate.

Events - Here you will find out about any special events which are taking place at the Boughton Estate.
