The Broadwalk and Broadwater

The lake or Broadwater was developed in two stages. The eastern half of the lake was formed first, around 1721, replacing the earlier Water Parterre. This rectangular pond was extended westwards to form the present Broad Water in 1724. Lost over the centuries to “benign neglect”, it has now been restored and re-boarded to establish the original crispness.
