Vincennes dated 1753-5

Soft-paste porcelain, turquoise-blue ground, flowers and fruit, and gilding.

PROVENANCE bought at Vincennes by Louis XV (1710-74) chiefly between December 1753 and December 1755; sold by him through L. Duvaux on 5 July 1757 to the comte de Stainville (later duc de Choiseul, 1719-85); probably inherited by his nephew the duc de Choiseul-Stainville (1760-1838). 101 pieces bought from E. H. Baldock (including some made in the 1760s for Choiseul) on 3 November 1830 for £1,150 and probably two more on 19 April 1831 for £55 (a total of 103 pieces, there are 99 at Boughton today). On 8 November 1830 Baldock charged £25 10s. for four iron bound oak boxes lined and padded for the service.
