Fifth State Room

The Fifth Stateroom differs from the others with its plain, boarded floor. It was originally to form part of a staircase leading to the upper suite the East Pavilion, the closed door to which is visible on the North wall. Unusually the fireplace is in the corner of the room. |

The marble chimney piece was supplied by Thomas Drew in about 1707 for this room. Drew charged £1.10s. for polishing, glazing and lining the chimney piece. In the same year Thomas Green was paid for the 'Covered' [sic, i.e., coved] ceiling.
